About

Humans first, then the technology.

I grew up in Tangier wanting to change the world with technology.

Industrial research at Thales and Safran taught me rigor. Clients taught me the rest: most leaders are overwhelmed by AI, and my job is to help them choose the technology that truly fits. Today I do it with Synara, the firm I founded.

How I work

The Synara Method.

Need first, AI second. Four steps I follow with every client, and three rules I never bend.

measure against the goal, then back to the need1Listenthe real needbehind the request2Define successcriteria and an owner, before any build3Choose & buildAI only where it helps, small, on real data4Adoptpeople trained, used every daymeasure, then back to the need ↺1Listenthe real needbehind the request2Define successcriteria and an owner, before any build3Choose & buildAI only where it helps, small, on real data4Adoptpeople trained, used every day
No owner, no project.Someone on your side owns the result from day one.
No success criteria, no build. We agree on what success looks like, and how to measure it, before building anything.
More AI is not a goal.Better results are. If AI is not the answer, I will say so.

Research

Questions I have chased.

From my PhD on cooperating agents to applied work in health, the same thread: making AI dependable enough to be useful.

  • 01

How can autonomous agents share interdependent tasks without a central planner?

PhD · Thales Research & Technology, Université Paris Cité · 2018-2022

Agents can organize themselves into coalitions and share tasks that depend on each other through local coordination, with no one in charge.

Can we trust learning agents in critical systems?

Safran Tech · DEEL consortium on trustworthy AI · 2022-2024

I worked on making multi-agent reinforcement learning more dependable, for systems where a wrong decision is not an option.

Is AI as precise as an orthodontist’s eye?

Journal of Clinical and Experimental Dentistry · 2026

We compared an AI landmark detection tool with expert manual annotations, to measure how accurate and how reproducible it really is.

Kind words

What people say.

A tailor-made training, fully aligned with the needs we had expressed. The content is clear, structured and directly applicable, and we felt the benefits quickly. The trainer knows her subject in depth: she answered every one of our questions with precision and relevance. I recommend her without reservation.

Douae joined Spaceling as our Chief AI Officer and a core member of the Founding Team. From the moment she joined, she quickly got up to speed and began shaping both our AI strategy and how it’s delivered in practice. She has a strong ability to take complex AI concepts and turn them into clear, actionable decisions. Her work consistently balances innovation, performance, and safety, keeping the product moving while staying aligned with our long-term vision. What’s particularly valuable, and relatively rare, is how she contributes beyond the technical scope. She’s been closely involved in coordinating workstreams and has stepped into investor discussions with clarity and confidence. That level of cross-functional ownership, combined with deep technical expertise, is not something you come across often. Douae combines the rigour of a PhD with a practical, outcome-focused approach. She brings strong leadership, stays clear-headed under pressure, and is someone the team naturally trusts to take ownership and move things forward. Personality-wise, Douae is a real ray of sunshine. She’s approachable, conscientious, and considerate, and brings a positive energy to the team while maintaining a high standard in everything she does. I’d strongly recommend her to any team looking to move from AI ambition to real, delivered results.

I am pleased to recommend Douae, with whom we work on automating our processes as well as on copywriting. Douae stands out for her strong sense of responsibility, her punctuality and her constant commitment. She works with great rigour and efficiency, and shows an excellent ability to grasp what is at stake and to propose concrete, relevant solutions. She is reliable, competent and proactive, someone you can truly count on. We are very satisfied with our collaboration with her and recommend her without hesitation.

Douae was an excellent PhD student. In a sometimes difficult context, made even harder by COVID, she carried her thesis work alongside other projects, notably with Thales colleagues on business matters related to her research. In doing so, she showed her ability to understand and integrate the needs of these entities, which were our clients. In her projects as during her thesis, she also showed real teaching skills and a remarkable sense of organization. She demonstrated her autonomy and communication skills by presenting her work and representing Thales at various events, including before the general public. She carried out extensive work, both mathematical and computational, and her thesis was the culmination of it. Part of her work proved relevant enough to attract the attention of the DGA, the French defence procurement agency. On a human level, Douae has always been dynamic, determined and rigorous. She quickly built ties with the other PhD students and the permanent staff, within the team and beyond.
